Anna Curry

12 years of working within insight and strategy across world-stage clients, and amongst world class thinkers has - and continues to be - a real joy.  

After earning my stripes (and battle scars) across wide ranging consumer research in the UK and Australia, it's fair to say I have forged a natural inclination towards healthcare and pharmaceuticals. It's where I get to indulge my inner science-geek as well as my lateral thinking. That's why I proposed, and led the development of a healthcare research department in a research and strategy boutique;  whilst at the same time recognising a need for greater creativity and contemporary research methods in a challenging marketing arena.

Our work takes me into the psychology of retail, the emotion in FMCG as well as the multifaceted complexity of pharma - indeed I’m a firm believer that keeping my eye on the ball in the world of the former allows me to stay on top of some of the cultural trends that are influential in the world of the latter.

No surprise really then that I'm a big fan of David Attenborough and Brian Cox, and I'm happiest sat in front of the log fire, glass of wine in-hand, family and dog curled up beside me, watching LIFE and being awestruck by this awesome world. Well that's on a Friday night.  Saturday you might find me at the best party in town (or village). It's this 'awe' that I seek to bring into the boardrooms of our clients and the war rooms of our agency partners.

I have over 20 years of leading teams and projects that range from large, exceptionally large as well as exquisitely and ever so effectively small.  I've had the pleasure of working with some of the best minds from DIAGEO, Pernod Ricard, VW, Subaru, McDonalds, DDB and Leo Burnett to name but a few, and I'll be forever grateful.

My preferred way of working is to ensure we all have fun no matter what the category - or the task at hand - but there are NEVER any excuses for not turning up at 9am (ish) with your game face on.

My years at a global agency, and then my true schooling at a boutique have formed an ever lasting love of looking at clients business' and opportunities and imagining methods, solutions and outcomes. From here, I derive the most pleasure when bringing together a band of thinkers and tinkerers and slamming that motley crew up against the best research insights and analysis in the business.

Outside of work, I love Aussie Reds, and French whites. I geek out at anything flat six. I covet my vinyl, but can't bear to throw away two decades of accumulated CDs. I buy a lot of books but read a lot more magazines. I'm happiest surrounded by my family, but I can't deny the allure of rising early to run trails and bike single track. At the end of the day we set up Selvedge to do a better job of what is being done well enough. Consequently we continue to partner with - and seek out - like minded individuals whom share that vision.

We have been working for over a decade with an esteemed ethnographer who has a particular passion and expertise for delving into lived experiences and bringing them to life through insight as well as first class video footage. This spans automotive, pharmaceutical, finance, as well as FMCG.
